E-Portfolio sample - Reading Term 2 2018

E-Portfolio sample - Reading Term 2

LEARNING INTENTIONS:
  • Use prior knowledge to connect with text
  • Check accuracy and the meaning of text whilst reading (ITTM)
  • Use prior knowledge and context to confirm author's meaning of words and phrases

When using the “I think that means” strategy, what do you have to do?
When using ITTM you have to put a sentence into your own words and try not to parrot
any of the words in the sentence. For example the cat jumped over the gate. ITTM = an
animal went over the thing that keeps animals in.

How would you get a “3”?
To get a 3 you have to be quick and you can’t parrot any of the words in the sentence.
You have to read your ITTM fluently and unpack the sentence. You also have to put it in
order and convince your audience you know what it means.

What is a roadblock?
A roadblock is a word that you don’t know the meaning of like gangrene
Gangrene is something that most pirates get and then they die which is why they aren’t
around anymore.

  1. You have really convinced me that you understand the “ITTM” strategy. You are putting the all of the sentences into your own words and are convincing your audience you understand what you have read.
