Bike Safety Blog Post T4 2018
What are the three things that Constable Ken Taught about where we can ride our bikes? (think - place and
time)

1. Ride on the left side of the road one meter away from the gutter

2. Put your lights on if your riding at night

3. Don't ride on the footpath because there might be cars reversing and you could get hit by the car and the
footpath is for people.

Name three important things Constable Ken taught us about how to ride our bikes? (think - eyes and head)

  1. Scan so that you don't hit any thing and then do a right shoulder check

  1. Make sure your wearing a helmet before riding your bike

  1. Have your left foot on the ground and then put your right foot on the pedal

Describe the three bike signals that Constable Ken taught us.

  1. put your right hand out for three seconds so that the car/person behind you knows that you are
turning right

  1. put your left hand out for three seconds so that the car/person behind you knows that you are
turning left

  1. put your hand out but bend your arm and hold it there for three seconds so that the car/person
behind you knows that you are going to stop

What did you enjoy the most about your Cycle Safe lesson? Why?
I liked going around the grassy track and doing it 5 times because it was so fun and it was a lot harder
on the grass so it made me work harder to go faster.

  1. You were able to identify safe places to ride your bike. You have demonstrated you know how to ride safely. The signals you used were appropriate. Keep checking to make sure your helmet is fitted correctly using the three finger rule.
